We are always trying to find the quick fix to losing weight. I have been watching my web stats and noticed that my previous article on the Acai berry continues to be the most popular. I get information as to what search led the reader to my blog and there is a definite trend. The reason that article is so popular is that people are searching for scientific evidence that the Acai Berry is not the latest in a long list of things that people erroneously believe can help them lose weight. I wish that my article could have been a little more definitive. The best I could come up with is that I didn’t find anything, which in and of itself doesn’t mean that such scientific research doesn’t exist, I just couldn’t find it.
The second reason people are searching is to look for side effects, and again, trying to find information that actually provides that feedback is extremely tough to find. Many sites promise, but fail to deliver any definitive information that will assist the consumer in making an informed decision as to whether the benefits outweigh any potential downside.
In today’s economic environment, we don’t want to spend our hard earned money on something unless we are sure that it will provide the desired results with minimal negative impact. So more people are taking the time to do the research to ensure that they get the most value out of any product they purchase. What it does suggest is that since so many people are looking for this answer without apparent success, that maybe that elusive scientific evidence simply doesn’t exist.
To those who are now howling with disbelief that I could make such a bold statement, I invite you, if you have the proof of this berry’s effectiveness in weight loss condcuted in scientfic studies, then bring it on. I’d love to see these studies and examine them to determine whether I have been missing out on something that would assist me in living a healthier life. In fact, that is what I have been searching for, so would love to be able to blog about finally being able to look at actual case study data.
I will not discount anyone who has used one or more of the products on the market and has felt better, have improved vitality and have lost some weight, but without the control of a case study, there are several other factors that you as an individual may not be taking into account. And what works for one may not work for someone else. But, I have to ask myself, if this is a wonder food, why is it only recently on the radar?
Another doubt creeps in from the fact that not long after Oprah champions the acai berry on her show, it becomes national news that she has gained weight and tipped the scales at 200 lbs. Don’t get me wrong, I understand how that can happen. We have watched Oprah struggle with her weight over the course of several years and she has periods where she appears to have it under control, and I admire how up front she is with her audience on her trials with weight. I also admire her for continue to fight to get the answers not just for her own sake, but to share with all of her viewers.
Don’t you think if the acai berry worked as well as all of the hype, that Oprah, for whom money would not be an object in this area, would not hesitate to put it to good use? She could have truckloads of fresh berries flown in on a daily basis if she wanted to, but she doesn’t. Ask yourself why.
