This is a picture of Samuel Hayes. He died last week, probably because he had too much to drink. He was sixteen-years-old, only a couple years older than me. I didn’t know Samuel. We don’t live in the same town, but his story hit me hard. He looks like a nice guy, and sixteen is too young to die.

Operation eBook Drop began with author and army veteran Edward C Patterson after a chance encounter with a soldier stationed in Iraq who mentioned having a Kindle, but not being able to download any books.

Every once in awhile, life surprises you in a pleasant sort of way. Today I received the BookBuzzr newsletter and was surprised and delighted to see Misfit McCabe was one of the books listed under the top views for the month of August.

Back in November last year, I received an email invitation to participate in the Pearson Prize Book Award contest from the Learning For a Cause Organization. I’ll admit, I was a little puzzled at first because I had not heard of this organization prior to receiving the email, and didn’t know how they would have heard of me.
