Back in July I was scheduled to appear on The Chris Treece Show on Blog Talk Radio. As many of you know, I called in and waited, but the host never arrived.
It’s official. For the second year in a row, LK Gardner-Griffie has garnered Pearson Prize Teen Choice award honors with her late 2009 release, Nowhere Feels Like Home.
Just slightly over a week ago, I went to Glamour Shots to have some pictures taken because I need a professional shot to have made into a poster for the upcoming LA Times Festival of Books, April 24th and 25th at UCLA.
Today a new Misfit McCabe review was posted by Denise Swank, an author who I’ve come to know through Twitter and highly recommend if you tweet to get to know.
At the beginning of a new book is always an exciting thing. I’m always ready to see where my characters take me, and often times it is a surprise to me.
An opportunity recently presented itself to do a guest post on another blog in the guise of an inteview with one of my characters.
The 2009 Pearson Prize Teen Choice Award winners have been announced and Misfit McCabe by LK Gardner-Griffie grabbed runner-up honors. Published in 2008, Misfit McCabe is written for teen readers, a market that can be notoriously difficult to reach.
Back in November last year, I received an email invitation to participate in the Pearson Prize Book Award contest from the Learning For a Cause Organization. I’ll admit, I was a little puzzled at first because I had not heard of this organization prior to receiving the email, and didn’t know how they would have heard of me.
Pegasus has long been my symbol for imagination. You put wings on a horse and imagination takes flight. Of course, my fondness for Pegasus may have been fostered by the number of trips we would make by car from Southern California to Northern Washington during my childhood. We made the trek at least twice a year, and invariably we would gas up at the Mobil stations.
As I read through some articles this morning, I ran across a great video called YA haters by Jackson Pearce which was a video response to some ridiculous remarks by the New Yorker, Entertainment Weekly, and The Atlantic about the young adult genre. I have embedded the video in this post so you can enjoy it as well. Jackson Pearce is an up and coming writer, who has her debut novel, As You Wish coming out in August 2009 (and is currently available for pre-order.) I really enjoy Jackson’s sense of humor and quirkiness, and have browsed a few of her other videos as well. Maybe I’ll have to turn Denny into my camera man and start V-logging too. I’ll get Phoenix to play me because she likes to pose for the camera. (All right, already. . . I digressed.)
